Major Investment in Digitalization of Shipping Terminal to Enhance Logistics

Boluda Shipping is investing over 40 million euros to digitalize its terminal in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, aiming to streamline logistics and improve efficiency.

Boluda Shipping has unveiled plans to implement a new digital platform at its terminal in the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This initiative, part of a significant investment exceeding 40 million euros, aims to enhance logistics by optimizing access for transporters and logistics operators.

Developed in collaboration with TMEIC, the mobile application using Pulse Mobile technology will manage the workflow from the moment transport companies receive their cargo orders until they exit the terminal. This system is expected to address up to 80% of common issues before trucks reach the access point, eliminating paperwork and easing port entry congestion.

The digitalization of access is particularly strategic for the BMT Tenerife facility, which handles Ultra Large Container Vessels. Real-time connectivity will help manage peak activity periods, reduce wait times, and ensure a predictable operation.

Gonzalo Calero Gómez, CEO of BMT, and Francisco Grau from TMEIC agree that this move strengthens the shift towards connected, sustainable, and data-driven port terminals. Following the successful pilot on the island, Boluda Shipping plans to gradually expand this technology across its network, which includes five terminals in the Canary Islands and four on the Iberian Peninsula, reinforcing Tenerife’s role as a key logistics hub in the Atlantic.
