Magaluf is poised to benefit from an investment of almost €8 million, as Calvià Council intensifies its efforts to revamp this popular Mallorca destination. The initiative aims to bolster safety, infrastructure, and responsible tourism.
This funding, sourced from the Balearic Islands’ Sustainable Tourism Tax, is part of a broader €16.8 million investment secured for the municipality under the 2026-27 annual plan. A significant portion is earmarked for Magaluf’s transformation through the ‘Improving Inspection, Safety, and Awareness for Responsible Tourism in Magaluf II’ project.
Key measures include increasing the number of Local Police officers, enhancing security and video surveillance systems, and providing additional resources for the Foreign Tourist Assistance Service (SATE).
The council will also continue its ‘Magaluf for All’ campaign and upgrade municipal infrastructure. Previous funding has already supported improvements in public services and the resort’s tourism image, linked to cultural events promoting a broader identity for the area.
Beyond Magaluf, more than €8.8 million will fund various projects across the municipality, including coastal improvements and heritage restoration. Santa Ponça will receive €2.41 million for waterfront enhancements, while Peguera will see €2.38 million for promenade modernization.
Additional projects include the renovation of the historic Ca ses Monges convent and the renaturalisation of Cala Blanca, reflecting Calvià’s commitment to modernizing public spaces and promoting a diverse tourism model.
