Palma Airport in Mallorca has been identified as one of the least punctual airports in Europe for summer departures. According to EUROCONTROL, only 53% of flights departed on time between June 1 and August 31, placing it 27th out of 29 major European airports.
This low punctuality rate highlights the challenges faced by travelers during the peak summer season, as Palma handles some of its highest traffic volumes. In comparison, Madrid-Barajas and Malaga airports fared slightly better, with 63% and 62% of flights departing on time, respectively.
Despite these figures, Spanish airports lag behind Europe’s top performers, such as Stockholm Arlanda, which achieved an 82% on-time departure rate. The data underscores the ongoing air traffic management issues in Spain, which accounted for 17% of all en-route delays across Europe in 2026.
