The Canary Islands are a premier destination for hiking, thanks to their unique landscapes and trails that cater to all ages and preferences. The islands’ favorable climate allows for year-round exploration of these stunning routes, which take you through volcanic terrains and along beautiful beaches.

Climb Mount Teide

Reaching the summit of Mount Teide, standing at 3,718 meters above sea level, is a remarkable achievement. To embark on this journey, you must first secure a special permit. The trek from Montaña Blanca to the summit and back covers 17.7 kilometers and takes approximately 10 hours. Along the way, you’ll encounter unique local flora and breathtaking panoramic views. For a more accessible option, take the cable car to La Rambleta at 3,555 meters, then hike the steep Telesforo Bravo trail to the top.

Beach Trails

The Canary Islands are renowned for their stunning beaches. One such trail leads to the secluded Güigüi Beach, accessible only by boat or on foot. Starting from the village of Tasartico, the 5-kilometer hike involves challenging ascents and descents through volcanic landscapes, taking about two hours each way. The reward is a refreshing swim at a nearly deserted beach.

Caldera Blanca Trail

On the island of Lanzarote, the Caldera Blanca trail takes you to the summit of a volcano with a crater diameter of 1,200 meters. This 10-kilometer round trip begins in the town of Mancha Blanca and is suitable for families, offering well-marked paths and even paved sections. The views from the top are truly breathtaking.
