Prioridad para los residentes de Los Silos en la carretera de la Tierra del Trigo

The municipality of Los Silos has implemented a new regulation restricting the road to Tierra del Trigo to local residents and essential services. This decision, unanimously approved by the town council, aims to alleviate traffic congestion and prevent further road damage, especially after the significant impact of storm Therese earlier this year. Such restrictions could reshape property interest in the area as access becomes more selective.

Enforcement will involve automatic license plate recognition and checks by authorities, requiring non-residents to provide justification for their presence. The road, characterized by sharp turns and steep slopes, has seen increased traffic from non-residents, prompting local action. A speed limit of 30 km/h is also introduced to enhance safety on this challenging route.

Mayor Carmen Luz Baso and other officials emphasize preserving the environment and quality of life for residents, given the area’s environmental significance and hospitality businesses. The new restrictions might alter the clientele of these businesses. Meanwhile, the TF-421 route remains available for broader public use, ensuring connectivity between Garachico and El Tanque. This situation suggests a potential shift in market dynamics, with the area maintaining its appeal for those valuing exclusivity and environmental conservation.
