Security Operation Leads to Arrests in Popular Tourist Areas
A significant police operation took place in key tourist zones in southern Tenerife, resulting in multiple arrests and numerous identifications.
The National Police conducted a major security operation in the bustling tourist areas of Arona, southern Tenerife, over a Friday night and early Saturday morning. The operation, spanning the commercial hub of Avenida de las Américas and the nightlife hotspot Las Verónicas, led to the identification of 494 individuals, the arrest of six people, and the inspection of 38 vehicles.
Starting at 8:00 PM on Friday, the police set up checkpoints to monitor both vehicles and pedestrians, identifying 133 individuals and inspecting 48 vehicles. The operation also uncovered nine foreign nationals without proper documentation and issued 26 citations for breaches of the Citizen Security Law.
The focus then shifted to Las Verónicas, a key nightlife area, where 130 uniformed officers and 25 plainclothes agents continued the checks. By the end of the operation at 4:45 AM, six arrests had been made, 361 people identified, and ten vehicles checked. Additionally, three more undocumented foreign nationals were found, and 14 more citations were issued.
